The Acting Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Mohammed Gondoe<\/strong>, has announced that the Trust has embarked on a bold digital transformation drive aimed at bringing its services closer to members and improving the efficiency of benefit processing and payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Gondoe made this disclosure on Monday, 6th October 2025<\/strong>, during the official launch of the 2025 edition of NASSIT Customer Service Week<\/strong> at the Julius Maada Bio Parade Grounds, Sierra Leone Military Hockey Pitch, Wilberforce, Freetown.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital Transformation for Improved Service Delivery<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In his keynote address, the Acting Director General described NASSIT as a statutory public trust established to administer Sierra Leone\u2019s National Pension Scheme. He reminded the audience that the scheme was designed to provide meaningful retirement benefits for employees and financial protection for their dependents in the event of death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on the theme \u201cMission Possible,\u201d<\/strong> Mr. Gondoe reaffirmed NASSIT\u2019s commitment to becoming a center of excellence in customer service. He noted that the Trust\u2019s ongoing digitalization initiative is a strategic move to modernize operations and ensure a seamless, transparent, and customer-friendly experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe digitization process is not just about technology\u2014it\u2019s about improving people\u2019s lives by making our services more accessible, faster, and more reliable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He outlined several key milestones already achieved under the digital transformation program, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Upgrade of ICT Infrastructure and Data Cleaning:<\/strong>
    NASSIT has completed a full upgrade of its ICT network and undertaken a data-cleaning exercise to improve operational efficiency. This upgrade enhances system reliability, minimizes downtime, and ensures that information is accurate, secure, and easily accessible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Web-Based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System (98% complete):<\/strong>
    The ERP integrates critical auxiliary functions such as Finance, Procurement, Stores Management, and Fleet Management into one unified platform. This system promotes real-time data sharing across departments, improves accountability, and reduces operational costs\u2014strengthening decision-making and productivity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Web-Based Pension Administration System (PAS) (99% complete):<\/strong>
    Central to NASSIT\u2019s mission, the PAS will revolutionize how pension services are managed. It includes online portals and mobile applications for both active members and pensioners, significantly reducing the time needed to process claims and payments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Multi-Factor Biometric Registration System (in progress):<\/strong>
    Currently in the bidders\u2019 evaluation stage, this system will register active members, beneficiaries, and pensioners using advanced biometric technology. Set to go live before the end of 2025, it will enhance data security, reduce fraud, and safeguard members\u2019 interests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Mr. Gondoe emphasized that the ICT transformation is not just an internal overhaul but a national advancement. \u201cMembers will soon be able to access NASSIT services literally at their fingertips,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    NASSIT Engages the Armed Forces<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    He further revealed that NASSIT will spend the next week providing direct services to members of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF)<\/strong> at various locations across the Western Area. He encouraged soldiers to take full advantage of the exercise to resolve outstanding issues related to their membership and benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Mr. Gondoe expressed gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff and the entire RSLAF leadership for the partnership and support extended to NASSIT in serving military personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Military Commends NASSIT\u2019s Initiative<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    In his remarks, the Chief of General Staff of the Sierra Leone Army, Major General S.D.T. Ngagua<\/strong>, commended NASSIT for demonstrating genuine commitment to improving the social protection of military personnel. He said the initiative would help streamline pension processes and ensure that officers retire in dignity after years of national service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cWe are encouraged by NASSIT\u2019s proactive approach to engaging the armed forces. It shows dedication to ensuring that the welfare of our officers is protected even after service,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Similarly, Brigadier General M.S. Senesie<\/strong>, President of the Men\u2019s Committee of the Sierra Leone Army, expressed satisfaction with NASSIT\u2019s administration, describing its leadership as composed of \u201csome of the finest professionals\u201d he has encountered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    As part of the event, a fully equipped workstation was set up to serve members of the RSLAF and other customers on-site, allowing for real-time registration, data updates, and customer support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
