He underscored that the platform has evolved into a credible forum attracting <strong>global, regional, and national experts<\/strong>, including key actors from government, business, and civil society, to shape the country\u2019s pathway toward sustainable growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recalling Sierra Leone\u2019s participation in the <strong>2024 OPEC Fund Investment Roundtable<\/strong>, President Bio highlighted that the event positioned Sierra Leone as a <strong>rising destination for green investment<\/strong>. These engagements, he said, culminated in a <strong>US$260 million funding package<\/strong> from the <strong>OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID)<\/strong>, which includes a <strong>US$200,000 grant<\/strong> for the establishment of a <strong>Climate Finance and Energy Innovation Hub<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funding, formalized through a <strong>Country Partnership Framework (CPF)<\/strong> agreement, will support critical sectors such as <strong>agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and water resource management<\/strong> \u2014 aligning with the <strong>Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP) 2024\u20132030<\/strong> and the <strong>United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cToday, CRET 2025 consolidates these developments and institutional gains to operationalize our <strong>Just Energy Transition and Green Growth Plan<\/strong>, mobilizing national and international stakeholders to accelerate Sierra Leone\u2019s energy transformation,\u201d President Bio stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>A key highlight of this year\u2019s dialogue is <strong>Mission 300<\/strong>, an ambitious <strong>Africa-led initiative<\/strong> that aims to connect <strong>300 million people to electricity by 2030<\/strong>. Under this framework, Sierra Leone seeks to expand electricity access from <strong>36 percent to nearly 78 percent<\/strong>, adding at least <strong>720,000 new household connections<\/strong> through a mix of <strong>grid expansion, off-grid solar solutions, and mini-grid renewable systems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cEnergy transition in Sierra Leone is not an abstract concept\u2014it is a practical, deliberate, systematic, and people-centered process,\u201d President Bio emphasized. \u201cWe remain committed to reforming energy governance, improving transparency, reducing losses in distribution and transmission, and ensuring that no one is left behind.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Convened under the <strong>Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security (PI-CREF)<\/strong>, and co-organized with relevant ministries, development partners, and private sector actors, <strong>CRET 2025<\/strong> brings together around <strong>500 participants<\/strong> from <strong>government, the private sector, academia, civil society, and international institutions<\/strong> such as the <strong>World Bank, African Development Bank (AfDB), Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the UK Foreign, Commonwealth &amp; Development Office (FCDO)<\/strong>, <strong>UNDP<\/strong>, <strong>GIZ<\/strong>, and <strong>IOM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/bgtr-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2415\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/bgtr-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/bgtr-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/bgtr-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/bgtr.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the course of two days, the dialogue will feature <strong>plenary and parallel sessions<\/strong> exploring priority themes including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mission 300 and regional power integration<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Energy utility reforms and renewable energy investment<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clean cooking technologies and climate finance mechanisms<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Off-grid electrification and private sector participation<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Youth-led agribusiness and innovation for food security<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>According to President Bio, <strong>CRET 2025<\/strong> serves as both a policy and investment forum aimed at advancing Sierra Leone\u2019s climate and energy agenda:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis dialogue will generate actionable knowledge, unlock private sector investment opportunities, and map the way forward for a credible <strong>carbon trading system<\/strong>\u2014while sustaining our commitment to the <strong>Feed Salone Initiative<\/strong> and accelerating the country\u2019s just energy transition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Several landmark initiatives will be launched during the event, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Mission 300 Sierra Leone Compact<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>National Clean Cooking Strategy<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>ECOWAS LPG 20\/20 Programme<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>OPEC Fund Country Partnership Framework (CPF) Agreement<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Climate Finance and Energy Innovation Hub<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Multi-Year Tariff Order Tool<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Sierra Leone Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission (SLEWRC) Mini-Grid Regulations 2025<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>SLEWRC Act 2025<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Salone Off-Grid Renewable Energy Acceleration Project (SOGREA)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These initiatives collectively reflect Sierra Leone\u2019s determination to build a <strong>resilient, sustainable, and inclusive green economy<\/strong>, powered by renewable energy and anchored in strong institutional reforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Climate Resilience and Energy Transition Dialogue (CRET)<\/strong>, now in its third edition, continues to strengthen Sierra Leone\u2019s leadership role in Africa\u2019s climate and energy transformation discourse.
