Delegates from around the world gathered to share ideas and chart a collective path toward a cleaner, more sustainable planet. Among them was a representative from Sierra Leone, who carried with him the vision of a country determined to transform its environmental landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the event, I had the privilege of participating in a meeting of the <strong>United Nations Secretary-General\u2019s Advisory Board on Zero Waste<\/strong> \u2014 a high-level platform that brings together leaders, policymakers, and experts to promote innovative waste management strategies and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In that meeting, I shared <strong>Sierra Leone\u2019s growing efforts to advance the zero-waste agenda<\/strong>, highlighting the progress being made in <strong>Kenema<\/strong> and <strong>Kono<\/strong> cities. These cities are at the forefront of our work to enhance waste collection, recycling, and disposal systems \u2014 practical steps that demonstrate our government\u2019s commitment to environmental stewardship and public well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/mhtrdx.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2427\" style=\"width:455px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/mhtrdx.jpg 900w, https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/mhtrdx-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/mhtrdx-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I also emphasized our desire to learn from international partners, particularly the <strong>Republic of T\u00fcrkiye<\/strong>. T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s success in adopting a comprehensive zero-waste framework offers valuable lessons for developing nations like ours. We are now seeking to <strong>collaborate with T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation, and Climate Change<\/strong>, with the goal of adapting their holistic approach to fit Sierra Leone\u2019s local realities. Such cooperation could serve as a model for other provincial cities across our country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back home, my office is working closely with the <strong>Environmental Protection Agency (EPA-SL)<\/strong> to strengthen our policy framework.
