United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group has once again affirmed its position as a leading financial powerhouse on the continent, clinching the prestigious Africa\u2019s Bank of the Year 2025<\/strong> award at the renowned Banker Awards<\/strong>, organised by The Banker<\/em> magazine of the Financial Times<\/em> Group in London. This marks the third time in five years<\/strong> that UBA has secured the coveted continental honour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UBA Sierra Leone proudly shares in this landmark achievement, having been named Best Bank in Sierra Leone 2025<\/strong>, making it one of nine UBA subsidiaries across Africa<\/strong> recognised for outstanding performance and excellence in banking services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to The Banker<\/em>, UBA\u2019s recognition was driven by its strong financial performance, commitment to innovation, and leadership in digital banking. Particular praise was given to the bank\u2019s advancement of Leo<\/strong>, Africa\u2019s first banking chatbot, which now enables cross-border payments through the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS)<\/strong>\u2014a major step in facilitating seamless intra-African trade and financial inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on the award, UBA Group Chief Executive Officer, Oliver Alawuba<\/strong>, said the recognition reflects the bank\u2019s unwavering focus on customer-first innovation, sustainable growth, and impactful service delivery across Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
