On the 7th January 2026 Orange Sierra Leone has officially bid farewell to its outgoing Chief Executive Officer, Sekou Amadu Bah<\/strong>, marking the end of his nearly four-year tenure, which concluded on 31 December 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The farewell was commemorated during a well-attended ceremony held on Wednesday, 7 January 2026<\/strong>, at the company\u2019s headquarters in Hill Station, Freetown<\/strong>, bringing together staff, senior management, and key stakeholders to reflect on Bah\u2019s leadership and celebrate his contributions to the company\u2019s growth, transformation, and people-centred culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speakers at the event described Bah\u2019s tenure as steady, inclusive, and impactful<\/strong>, noting that he assumed leadership during a challenging period marked by economic pressures, complex regulatory demands, and significant network challenges. Despite these constraints, they said he consistently demonstrated calmness, clarity, and composure, inspiring confidence across the organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on behalf of employees, Elizabeth Clarissa A. Walker<\/strong>, Head of Orange Sierra Leone Connect<\/strong>, said Bah strengthened the company\u2019s operational foundation through strategic investments that positioned Orange Sierra Leone for long-term growth. She highlighted his integrity, accessibility, and trust-based leadership style, noting that his open-door policy and regular engagement with staff fostered a strong sense of belonging and motivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walker also praised Bah\u2019s commitment to staff welfare, citing initiatives such as Ramadan vouchers<\/strong> and support for field staff during difficult economic periods. She further commended his decision to appoint two directors from within the existing workforce, including a local marketing director in a role previously held by expatriates<\/strong>, describing the move as a strong affirmation of local talent and institutional knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representing the Orange Sierra Leone Men\u2019s Association<\/strong>, Vice President Joseph Saffa Tengbeh<\/strong> described Bah as a principled and courageous leader who strengthened systems, deliberately built capacity, nurtured talent, and promoted a culture of accountability and opportunity. According to Tengbeh, Bah\u2019s legacy will endure through the standards he set, the people he inspired, and the stronger organisation he leaves behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, Priscilla Okechukwu<\/strong>, President of Orange Sierra Leone Women<\/strong>, highlighted Bah\u2019s commitment to inclusivity and women\u2019s empowerment. She said his leadership went beyond corporate performance, ensuring women were actively included in decision-making and supported in their professional growth. Under his tenure, she noted, many women advanced into leadership roles, reflecting a culture where empowerment was practised rather than merely promoted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okechukwu also commended Bah\u2019s role in driving digital transformation and infrastructure development, positioning Orange Sierra Leone as an industry leader. She described him as an accessible leader who valued people as the company\u2019s greatest asset and treated the Orange Women\u2019s Programme<\/strong> as a core pillar of corporate strategy, describing him as an outstanding \u201cHe-for-She<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, A\u00efcha Tour\u00e9<\/strong>, also paid tribute to her predecessor, describing his tenure as transformative, resilient, and impactful<\/strong>. She said Bah led the company with vision and determination, guiding it through challenges while unlocking new opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Tour\u00e9, Orange Sierra Leone recorded notable progress under Bah\u2019s leadership, including the setting of new customer experience standards, strengthening of IT systems, and the expansion of data network coverage to over 90 percent of the population<\/strong>. She added that he accelerated business growth and profitability, strengthened compliance systems, and promoted social cohesion and the development of diverse talent within the organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his farewell remarks, Sekou Amadu Bah<\/strong> described the moment as one of mixed emotions, expressing gratitude, pride, and humility. He thanked the company\u2019s over 432 employees nationwide<\/strong>, crediting them for the achievements recorded during his tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bah highlighted improvements in telecommunications infrastructure, expanded connectivity, and more reliable communication services across the country. While acknowledging the significant challenges faced during his leadership, he said these were overcome through courage, creativity, and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond corporate success, he emphasized the importance of relationships, describing Orange Sierra Leone as a family built on trust, solidarity, and teamwork. As he handed over leadership, Bah expressed confidence in A\u00efcha Tour\u00e9<\/strong> and urged staff to extend to her the same support they had given him. He also thanked his family, the Board of Directors, shareholders, and the executive team for their unwavering support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony concluded with a standing ovation, farewell messages from departments and regional teams, and the presentation of gifts\u2014marking both the close of Bah\u2019s tenure and the beginning of a new chapter in Orange Sierra Leone\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
