The event took place at the conference hall of New Brookfields Hotel and brought together an array of stakeholders from across the education sector, reflecting the competition\u2019s growing national significance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendees included officials from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), representatives of the Institute for Legal Research and Advocacy for Justice (ILRAJ), school administrators, pupils, educators, and members of the media. He further commended UBA for its sustained commitment to education in Sierra Leone, noting that initiatives like this go beyond financial support, shaping the values, skills, and future opportunities of the nation\u2019s youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UBA Leadership Highlights Competition\u2019s Impact<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"819\" src=\"https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/uba-3-1024x819.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2669\" style=\"width:483px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/uba-3-1024x819.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/uba-3-300x240.jpg 300w, https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/uba-3-768x614.jpg 768w, https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/uba-3.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on behalf of UBA Sierra Leone\u2019s leadership, the Chief Operating Officer, Chiedu Ngene, delivered greetings from the Managing Director and CEO, Mohamed Alhajie Samoura, as well as the CEO of the UBA Foundation, Bola Atta, and the bank\u2019s board, management, and staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ngene expressed gratitude to the Ministry and ILRAJ for their partnership and collaboration in selecting this year\u2019s essay theme and coordinating the competition. \u201cThe continued support of these key partners ensures that the competition remains relevant, impactful, and nationally recognized,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He highlighted the remarkable growth of the initiative since its inception, revealing that between 2020 and 2023, the competition received over 1,500 essays from students representing more than 500 schools nationwide. He praised UBA for sustaining and expanding the competition, acknowledging that the Ministry\u2019s involvement has given the initiative national credibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe 2025\/2026 edition of the UBA National Essay Competition will reach all sixteen districts of Sierra Leone through extensive school engagement and media outreach, ensuring that students from every region have the opportunity to participate,\u201d Michael said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fostering a Culture of Intellectual Engagement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The UBA National Essay Competition is a core component of the UBA Foundation\u2019s broader education initiatives, which aim to cultivate a culture of reading, research, and intellectual expression among secondary school pupils across Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at UBA Sierra Leone, Sallieu Sesay, described the competition as more than just an academic contest. \u201cIt serves as a powerful platform to inspire creativity, intellectual growth, and academic excellence among young people.
