{"id":2886,"date":"2026-08-18T13:39:58","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T13:39:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/?p=2886"},"modified":"2026-08-18T13:40:21","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T13:40:21","slug":"man-sentenced-to-40-months-for-larceny-in-freetown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/?p=2886","title":{"rendered":"Man Sentenced to 40 Months for Larceny in Freetown"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"268\" height=\"188\" src=\"https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/ghh.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2887\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By Mamajah Jalloh<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yusufu Jah has been sentenced to 40 months imprisonment by Magistrate Mary Julia Gbloh of Pademba Road Court No. 5 in Freetown after pleading guilty to one count of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sentence was handed down on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the particulars of the offence, Jah, on Saturday, 11 April 2026, at Kamanda Farm, behind Fourah Bay College in Freetown, stole several items belonging to Alhassan Mansaray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The stolen property included one black ACC laptop computer, one Tecno Spark 8 mobile phone, one black Samsung S23 mobile phone, one large black power bank, one large orange Wi-Fi device, two pairs of creps, one brown bedsheet and one brown bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bag reportedly contained Le2,000 in cash, a student identification card and a voter\u2019s card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The total value of the stolen items was put at Le18,050.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"819\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GYTREW-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2888\" style=\"width:508px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GYTREW-819x1024.jpg 819w, https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GYTREW-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GYTREW-768x960.jpg 768w, https:\/\/vindicatorslnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GYTREW.jpg 864w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When the charge was read and explained to him in court, Jah pleaded guilty to the offence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The convict was not legally represented and appealed to the court for mercy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following his guilty plea, the prosecution tendered the relevant documents in evidence.
