FREETOWN — President Julius Maada Bio has hailed the election of Sierra Leonean Alhaji Amadu Juldeh Sowe as President of Tabital Pulaaku International, describing his emergence as head of the global Fulah organisation as a source of national pride and urging him to make peace, unity and inclusive leadership the hallmarks of his tenure.

President Bio gave the commendation on Monday, October 5, 2026, when he received Alhaji Sowe and a delegation of senior representatives of Tabital Pulaaku International at State House in Freetown. The President also reaffirmed his Government’s support for the Fulah community and called on the newly elected leader to use his international position to strengthen cooperation among Fulahs and promote peaceful coexistence with other communities.

Alhaji Sowe, who was accompanied by representatives of the organisation from several countries, was formally presented to the President following his election to lead the international body, which promotes the cultural identity, unity and interests of Fulah communities across national boundaries.

The delegation included Alhaji Sidie Dem, Dr Abubakar Gerei and Dr Helena Sahid of Guinea-Bissau. Representatives said their visit was intended to celebrate Alhaji Sowe’s election, introduce him formally to Sierra Leone’s leadership and express appreciation for the support extended to the Fulah community.

Speaking during the courtesy visit, Dr Sahid said the delegation had travelled to Sierra Leone to present the newly elected Horeejo, a title used for the organisation’s leader, to President Bio and the people of Sierra Leone.

She said Alhaji Sowe’s election reflected the confidence and respect he enjoyed among Fulahs across 34 countries, describing his emergence as an important achievement for both the community and Sierra Leone.

According to Dr Sahid, the delegation considered it necessary to visit Sierra Leone because the election of one of its citizens to lead an international organisation of such reach deserved national recognition.

She also expressed appreciation to President Bio, First Lady Fatima Bio, the Government and people of Sierra Leone for their support for the Fulah community and the newly elected leader.

The delegation described Alhaji Sowe’s election as more than a personal accomplishment, noting that it had placed a Sierra Leonean at the head of an organisation with a broad international constituency.

Sowe Pledges Unity and Peace

In his remarks, Alhaji Sowe thanked President Bio, the First Lady, the Government and people of Sierra Leone, as well as Fulahs across the world, for the confidence and support shown to him.

He said the presence of representatives from 34 countries demonstrated the international support surrounding his election and the shared commitment to strengthening Tabital Pulaaku International.

Alhaji Sowe explained that the delegation had accompanied him to Sierra Leone to formally introduce him to his compatriots and acknowledge the President’s support for the Fulah community.

He described his election as an achievement that should make Sierra Leoneans proud and pledged to approach his new responsibilities with humility, dedication and a commitment to service.

The newly elected leader called for greater unity among Fulahs in Sierra Leone and across the world, emphasising that cooperation, mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence would be central to his leadership.

He said he intended to work towards strengthening solidarity within the Fulah community while encouraging constructive relationships with other ethnic and cultural groups.

Alhaji Sowe also stressed the importance of collective action in advancing development, social cohesion and peace, noting that the community’s strength depended on its ability to work together across national boundaries.

His election places him in a position to engage with Fulah communities in different countries and encourage stronger cultural, social and cooperative ties among them.

Bio Commends Sowe’s Leadership

Congratulating Alhaji Sowe, President Bio said he was pleased to receive the leadership of Tabital Pulaaku International and welcome the newly elected president to State House.

The President described Sowe as a peaceful, respectful and consultative leader who had made meaningful contributions to Sierra Leone over the years.

“You have demonstrated for far too long that you are peaceful and that you have been contributing meaningfully to our country,” President Bio said.

He added that Sowe’s election to lead an international organisation was a development worthy of national celebration, given the confidence placed in a Sierra Leonean to assume such a significant responsibility.

President Bio urged him to use his new position to strengthen unity and ensure that his tenure was defined by peace, consultation and effective leadership.

The President also commended the Fulah community for its contributions to national development, saying his engagements with its members had reinforced his appreciation of their role in Sierra Leone.

‘We Have Lived Together’

President Bio used the meeting to underscore Sierra Leone’s tradition of peaceful coexistence, emphasising that the country’s strength lay in the longstanding relationships among people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

“We have lived together in our communities, attended schools together, and shared good memories,” the President noted.

He said these shared experiences should continue to serve as a foundation for national unity, adding that Sierra Leoneans must preserve their bonds despite differences in ethnic or cultural identity.

Against that background, President Bio encouraged Alhaji Sowe to use his international standing not only to unite Fulahs but also to promote understanding and peaceful relations between the Fulah community and other groups.

He expressed confidence that Sowe’s experience, character and consultative approach would help him provide effective leadership to Tabital Pulaaku International.

The President further encouraged the new leader to build on the organisation’s existing strengths and take it to a higher level, with peace and unity remaining central to its work.

President Calls for Support

President Bio called on Fulahs in Sierra Leone to support Alhaji Sowe as he assumes his new international responsibilities, stressing the importance of collective backing for effective leadership.

He also thanked Fulahs across the world for entrusting a Sierra Leonean with the leadership of their international organisation, describing the development as an opportunity to strengthen the country’s relationships with communities beyond its borders.

For the visiting delegation, the State House meeting provided an opportunity to celebrate Sowe’s election and acknowledge the support of the Sierra Leonean Government.

The participation of representatives from 34 countries highlighted the international reach of Tabital Pulaaku International and the broad community Alhaji Sowe is expected to serve.

His election is expected to provide further opportunities to promote Fulah cultural identity, strengthen community ties and encourage dialogue and cooperation across national boundaries.

For Sierra Leone, his emergence as the organisation’s leader represents an opportunity to showcase the country’s citizens on the international stage while reinforcing the values of peaceful coexistence and inclusive leadership.

As he begins his tenure, Alhaji Sowe faces the task of building on the confidence that secured his election and translating the calls for unity and cooperation into practical initiatives that benefit Fulah communities and strengthen relationships with other groups.

President Bio’s reception of the delegation therefore served not only as a congratulatory gesture but also as a renewed call for peace, national cohesion and constructive engagement among communities in Sierra Leone and beyond.
