WARD C Engages Banana Island Community on Key Health Project

The Western Area Rural District Council (WARDC) held an engagement session today in Banana Island village to inform and involve local stakeholders regarding the upcoming Accountable Governance Project for Service Delivery. This initiative includes the rehabilitation of the Banana Island Health Centre, the staff quarters, a hand-dug well, and the installation of a solar system for the facility.

The Council was represented by key officials, including the Deputy Chief Administrator (DCA), the Development Planning Officer (DPO), the Finance Officer (FO), the Environmental Social Officer (ESO), the Civil Works Engineer, the Gender Officer, the Information Officer, and Councillor Zachariah Kanneh, Chairman of the Works and Infrastructure Committee.

The session was chaired by Development Planning Officer Mohamed Momoh Foday, who emphasized the project’s significance and its potential to enhance health services in Banana Island.

The Deputy Chief Administrator, representing Chief Administrator Festus Kallay, conveyed greetings from Chairman Kasho J. Holland Cole. He noted that the Chairman’s commitment to development was pivotal in selecting the Banana Island Health Centre for this project, aimed at elevating the facility’s standards.

Civil Works Engineer Ing. Konneh provided an overview of the project, detailing its scope and expected outcomes. Councillor Zachariah Kanneh also underscored his role in overseeing the project’s success.

Other officials, including Finance Officer Madina Bah, Environmental Social Officer Nanah Jalloh, and the Gender Officer, shared insights into their responsibilities and the project’s importance.

In response, the people of Banana Island, represented by their Village Head and local executives, expressed gratitude for the Council’s engagement and voiced their hopes for the official launch of the project, which addresses the community’s pressing needs.
