Two Accused of Armed Robbery Remanded in Freetown

Freetown, Sierra Leone – Businessman Alimamy Sinneh and Alimamy Gbamkey, alias White Boy, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 on charges of conspiracy and robbery with aggravation.

The accused are charged with conspiracy contrary to law and robbery with aggravation, under Section 23(1) of the Larceny Act 1916, as amended by Act No. 16 of 1971.

According to the prosecution, on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Gulf Club, Lumley Beach Road, Freetown, the accused conspired with unknown individuals to commit robbery. The second count alleges that, while armed with a cutlass, they robbed Blessing Cole of an iPhone 11 Pro Max, valued at fifteen thousand new Leones (NLe 15,000), and used personal violence against her before or after the theft.

When the charges were read in court, the accused did not enter a plea.

The prosecution, led by Inspector M.K. Taylor and Assistant Commissioner of Police Joan Bull Esq., called their first witness, Blessing A.V. Cole, a student at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.

Testifying in court, Cole identified the accused and recounted that on February 23, 2025, around 7:30 p.m., she and her friends had gone to Sport Zone to play basketball. While attempting to board transportation home from Lumley, she was attacked by the accused, who tried to steal her phone. The stolen phone was presented in court as evidence.

During cross-examination, defense counsel M.K. Dauda attempted to establish his clients’ innocence.

Magistrate Kekura denied bail and ordered the accused to be remanded at the Male Correctional Center in Freetown. The case was adjourned to April 8, 2025, for further proceeding
