NatCA DG Promotes Religious Unity with Ramadan Lent Donations

The Director-General of the National Communications Authority (NatCA), Amara Brewah, on Friday, 13th March 2026, carried out his annual humanitarian gesture of presenting food items to both Christians and Muslims observing the fasting seasons of Ramadan and Lent respectively. The presentation ceremony took place at the new NatCA Headquarters located behind the United States Embassy at IMATT in Freetown.
The initiative forms part of the Director-General’s continued efforts to promote unity, compassion, and religious harmony in Sierra Leone, especially during sacred periods when members of the Muslim and Christian communities devote themselves to prayer, fasting, and acts of charity.
Addressing representatives from various mosques and churches present at the event, Brewah emphasized the importance of maintaining the strong spirit of religious tolerance that Sierra Leone is widely known for across the world. He noted that the country continues to stand as a shining example of peaceful coexistence between people of different faiths.
According to him, the act of sharing with one another during sacred periods such as Ramadan and Lent reflects the true values of humanity, love, and national unity.
He encouraged both Muslim and Christian faithful to continue praying for peace, stability, and national development, stressing that the collective prayers of citizens play a significant role in the progress of the nation.
Brewah further remarked that in several parts of the world, religious intolerance continues to create divisions and conflicts, but Sierra Leone remains unique because of its long-standing tradition of interfaith respect and cooperation. He urged citizens to safeguard this national treasure and ensure that future generations continue to enjoy the same level of harmony.

Representatives of the beneficiary institutions expressed appreciation to the Director-General for the thoughtful gesture, describing it as a demonstration of leadership, compassion, and commitment to community development. They assured him that the donated items would greatly support members of their congregations during the fasting period.
Among the beneficiaries of the donation were the Wilberforce Barracks Masjid, Hill Station Masjid, and IMATT Umar Bun Dathab Mosque, as well as several churches and other religious institutions within the Freetown municipality.
The annual initiative by the NatCA Director-General has over the years become an important symbol of solidarity and shared humanity, reinforcing Sierra Leone’s reputation as one of the most religiously tolerant nations in the world. The gesture also highlights the role of public institutions and leaders in promoting unity, compassion, and social responsibility within communities
