Sierra Leone’s leading betting operator, Mercury International, has paid out more than NLe 4.57 billion (old leones) to over 8,000 lottery winners following its Sunday draws, marking the company’s second-largest Lotto payout of the year.

According to the company, a total of NLe 4,572,418,000 was distributed to winners across several draws held on Sunday, with thousands of customers benefiting from the latest windfall.

The bulk of the payout came from the Sunday Special Draw and the Dove Court Special Draw, which together accounted for approximately NLe 4.34 billion in winnings.

A key feature of both major draws was the popular number combination 12-21, which appeared in the winning numbers and contributed to a significant number of successful tickets.

For the Sunday Special Draw, the winning numbers were 49, 9, 53, 21 and 12, with 6 and 7 as the extra numbers and 66 and 23 recorded as the machine numbers.

The Dove Court Special Draw produced 12, 51, 75, 20 and 21, with 6 and 7 as the extra numbers and 79 and 35 as the machine numbers.

The three other draws conducted on Sunday—Leicester Peak, Super Sunday and Mambo—also produced winners, further contributing to the overall payout for the day.

Second-Largest Payout of the Year

Mercury International described the latest disbursement as its second-largest Lotto payout recorded so far in 2026.

The development comes approximately seven months after the company recorded its biggest Lotto payout of the year in January, when about NLe 6 billion (old leones) was reportedly paid to more than 5,000 winners.

The latest payout has once again highlighted the scale of Mercury International’s Lotto operations, which attract players from different parts of Sierra Leone through its network of retail outlets and betting platforms.

Speaking on the latest development, Mercury International Deputy Public Relations Officer, Sahr Morris Jr., said the payout further demonstrated the company’s position in the country’s betting and lottery market.

Morris said the latest wins reinforced Mercury International’s market leadership and its focus on engaging customers through its retail network.

“This win has reinforced our market leadership and retail-led engagement. As we always say to our valued customers, play or bet responsibly, as we will continue to change the lives of Sierra Leoneans,” he stated.

Winners Share Their Stories

Several winners have shared their experiences following the Sunday draws, with some saying the winnings would be used to support businesses, construction projects and other personal needs.

Among the winners is Juma, a 40-year-old resident of Freetown, who turned a total stake of NLe 30 spread across multiple tickets into NLe 45,000.

Juma said he was pleased with the outcome and described himself as an experienced Mercury customer who has won money through both Lotto and football betting.

“I will continue to play and win more money with Mercury. I am no stranger to winning both Lotto and football betting,” he said.

Another major winner was Ibrahim Massaquoi of Kenema, who reportedly played three numbers across 17 tickets and won more than NLe 80 million.

Massaquoi described the winnings as significant and said he intended to use the money to support an ongoing building project.

“Mercury International is indeed a poverty-alleviation company; they are making a difference in our lives,” he said.

Massaquoi disclosed that the latest win was his sixth major win in four years of playing Mercury Lotto.

He said the repeated success had encouraged him to continue participating in the draws, while acknowledging the impact of the latest winnings on his personal plans.

‘12-21’ Proves Lucky

For another winner, the appearance of the number combination 12-21 in both of the major Sunday draws proved particularly significant.

Mammy Sallay, who said 12-21 has been among her regular number selections, expressed surprise after seeing the combination feature in both the Sunday Special and Dove Court Special draws.

Sallay won NLe 12,000 and said she intends to invest the money in her business.

Her story was among several accounts from winners who benefited from the latest draws, as Mercury International continues to distribute winnings through its various Lotto products.

Thousands of Winners Nationwide

Mercury International continues to promote its Lotto product as one of the country’s most widely played lottery games, with weekly draws producing winners across Sierra Leone.

The company’s Lotto draws include a variety of games and special draws, providing customers with multiple opportunities to participate and win.

The latest payout is expected to further generate interest among Lotto players, particularly following the emergence of several major individual winners and the large number of customers who benefited from the Sunday draws.

Mercury International, however, continues to remind customers to participate responsibly and within their means.

The company says responsible play remains an important part of its engagement with customers as it continues to expand its lottery and betting operations across Sierra Leone.
