The “Pact for the Future,” which President Bio described as a vital roadmap, aims to transform the circumstances of vulnerable populations across the globe. He outlined several critical areas of focus for g7+ countries, which include:

  1. National Ownership and Inclusive Governance: President Bio called for governance models that involve local populations in decision-making processes, ensuring that policies reflect the needs and aspirations of those most affected by them.
  2. Fostering International Peace: He stressed the importance of global cooperation in maintaining peace and stability, urging nations to work together to resolve conflicts and prevent crises before they escalate.
  3. Innovative Financing for Sustainable Development: The President emphasized the necessity of diversifying funding sources and leveraging new financial mechanisms to support sustainable development initiatives. This includes engaging the private sector and utilizing innovative financing models.
  4. Embracing Science, Technology, and Digital Cooperation: Recognizing the pivotal role of technology in modern development, President Bio called for increased investment in science and technology to foster growth and address challenges, particularly in education and healthcare.
  5. Empowering Youth as Agents of Change: President Bio highlighted the critical role of young people in shaping the future. He urged world leaders to invest in youth empowerment, enabling them to become active participants in their communities rather than mere beneficiaries of aid.

In addition to these priorities, President Bio advocated for comprehensive reform of the UN Security Council to ensure that Africa has fair representation in global decision-making processes. He stressed that equitable representation is crucial for addressing the unique challenges faced by the continent and for fostering a more inclusive approach to international governance.

“Trust within fragile states is the foundation of lasting peace,” he remarked, calling on global leaders to strengthen their partnerships with these nations. By fostering trust and collaboration, the international community can create an environment conducive to peace and development.

As the UN Summit of the Future unfolds, there is growing hope that the Pact for the Future will serve as a catalyst for positive change in conflict-affected regions.
