Wan Fambul Frame Work Continues to Create Pathway for Stakeholders in Community Development

On Tuesday 18th June, 2024, Fambul Tok SL with its partners in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs successfully held a session with the people of Fekiyah Village Singkongofah Sector Sandor Chiefdom, Kono District on the importance of the Village Development Committee.

The Executive Director of Fambul Tok SL, John Caulker started by providing information on how Fekiyah Village in Sandor Chiefdom was selected based on consultation with stakeholders. Mr Caulker went further explained on the relevance of the Village Development Committees in terms of designing their own projects which suit their needs, and that they want the people to be the architects of their projects so that in the future, they will not blame others for any failure in term of services delivered.

Speaking on behalf of Council, the District Council Chairman of Kono District, Augustine Sahr Sheku states that they are committed to ensuring that such measures are implemented to work with communities within their respective areas.

The Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs is charged with the responsibility to monitor and coordinate projects that will directly impact the lives of locals, the Deputy Minister Alfred Moe Jamiru lauds Fambul Tok SL for their relentless dedication in promoting sustainable peace and strengthening cooperation between communities across the country. Mr. Jamiru encouraged the people of Fekiyah Village to work together to fostering peace so that they will be able to achieve their goals for the benefits of all.

Two of the Representatives, Peter F. Bundor and Hawa Mansaray deeply appreciated the initiative because as they put it, it serves as an opportunity and a learning platform for them to engage others in their respective communities to settle long existing disputes which have been affecting the growth of their communities. He said that there are some family members in his community that have not been in good terms due to the bitter conflict they had in the Civil War, but said that with the knowledge been gained, they are going to use same to convince them on how to embrace those people who have hurt them so that they will see themselves as one people for the benefit of community development.

Mr. Caulker further informed the gathering that those Village Development Committees are linked with aligned ministries to help support various projects which are in line with the communities’ needs. He stated that Fambul Tok Salone is creating the enabling environment for communities to own their projects and to start raising funds to support their projects which has helped them gained access to other donor support.
