NPRA Welcomes New NP Sierra Leone CEO Mohamed S. Kanu

Freetown – The Director General of the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Brima Baluwa Koroma, has formally received the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of National Petroleum Sierra Leone Limited (NPSL), Mohamed S. Kanu, during a courtesy visit at Tower Hill.
Welcoming the NP delegation, Koroma described the visit as timely, allowing the new CEO to quickly engage with key stakeholders in a rapidly evolving industry. He commended Kanu’s two decades of local and international experience in the petroleum sector and expressed confidence that his leadership would inject fresh energy into Sierra Leone’s petroleum market.
Koroma reaffirmed NPRA’s commitment to close collaboration with NPSL, which he described as government’s closest partner, the largest taxpayer in the sector, and a major employer. He encouraged NP to maintain its leadership position by adopting international best practices and driving strategic innovations for sustainable growth.

In his response, Kanu praised the reforms and progress achieved under NPRA’s leadership in recent years. Drawing on his regional experience in Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, and Côte d’Ivoire, he pledged to leverage his expertise to tackle industry challenges in Sierra Leone while consolidating NP’s market dominance.
He further stressed the importance of continued cooperation between NP and NPRA, noting that such collaboration is critical to stabilizing Sierra Leone’s petroleum sector amid global uncertainties.
