FREETOWN, 5 August 2026 – Qcell Sierra Leone has unveiled its new 035 mobile number series, a strategic expansion aimed at meeting the growing demand for mobile services while strengthening digital connectivity and financial inclusion across the country.

The launch, held in Freetown, marks another milestone for one of Sierra Leone’s fastest-growing telecommunications companies as it continues to invest in network expansion, customer experience and innovative digital solutions.

Speaking during the launch ceremony, Qcell Chief Executive Officer Karthik Jayamani described the introduction of the 035 series as more than simply adding another range of telephone numbers. He said it represents the company’s commitment to providing customers with greater choice while supporting Sierra Leone’s rapidly evolving digital economy.

“The introduction of the 035 series represents more than just a new number range,” Jayamani said. “It provides customers with the opportunity to choose numbers that reflect their identity while ensuring we continue to meet the growing demand for mobile services across the country.”

He explained that as mobile subscriptions continue to increase, expanding the numbering system has become necessary to accommodate new customers and ensure the company remains well-positioned to serve the country’s growing communications needs.

According to the CEO, customers will be able to reserve and purchase their preferred 035 numbers through selected Qcell Customer Experience Centres, authorised dealers and digital reservation platforms, making the process convenient and accessible nationwide.

To celebrate the launch, Jayamani announced a special promotional package for new subscribers. Every customer activating a 035 number will receive 10 minutes of free on-net voice calls, 300 megabytes of data and 100 SMS every month for six consecutive months, in addition to enjoying Qcell’s full portfolio of voice, data and digital services.

He said the promotional offer reflects the company’s appreciation for its customers and its determination to make digital communication more affordable and accessible.

“We are committed to delivering value beyond connectivity,” he noted. “Our goal is to ensure that every customer enjoys reliable services while benefiting from innovative products designed to improve everyday life.”

Jayamani reaffirmed Qcell’s long-term commitment to investing in telecommunications infrastructure and supporting Sierra Leone’s digital transformation agenda through continuous innovation and improved service delivery.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Head of QMoney Sierra Leone, Gabriel Mendy, described the introduction of the new number series as a significant boost for digital financial services and an important step towards achieving greater financial inclusion.

He said the expansion would allow more Sierra Leoneans to access secure, reliable and convenient mobile money services while supporting Government’s broader objective of building a digital economy.

“Our mission at QMoney has always been to drive financial inclusion, empower communities and ensure that every Sierra Leonean has the tools to participate fully in the digital economy,” Mendy said.

He noted that QMoney has become one of the country’s leading mobile financial service providers and remains an active participant in the Bank of Sierra Leone’s National Switch Payment System, enabling seamless electronic transactions across different financial institutions.

According to Mendy, the introduction of the 035 series will significantly expand the number of people able to register for and use QMoney services, thereby increasing financial access for individuals, small businesses and rural communities.

“The launch of the 035 series is a powerful step forward in achieving our mission by bringing more people into the financial inclusion ecosystem,” he stated.

He explained that the expanded numbering platform would create additional opportunities for customers, merchants and mobile money agents to transact more efficiently using QMoney’s secure digital payment system.

From sending and receiving money to paying bills, purchasing airtime and conducting business transactions, he said the platform continues to simplify financial services for thousands of Sierra Leoneans, particularly those without access to traditional banking.

“The 035 series represents Qcell’s commitment to innovation and our determination to bridge financial gaps across Sierra Leone and beyond,” Mendy added.

Industry observers say the introduction of a new numbering series reflects the sustained growth of Sierra Leone’s telecommunications sector, which has witnessed increasing demand for voice, data and mobile financial services as digital adoption accelerates nationwide.

The launch also aligns with national efforts to deepen digital inclusion by expanding access to affordable communications, electronic payments and other technology-driven services that support economic growth.

With the rollout of the 035 number series, Qcell says it is positioning itself to meet future demand while reinforcing its reputation as one of Sierra Leone’s leading providers of innovative telecommunications and mobile financial solutions.
