Nominees Urged to Complete Interview Forms before 17 August

The Office of the Clerk of the Parliament of Sierra Leone has issued a public notice urging all presidential nominees recently appointed to various state offices to take immediate steps to complete the required parliamentary interview process.

According to the notice dated 13 August 2026, all affected presidential nominees are required to collect their interview forms, complete them and return the duly filled forms by Monday, 17 August 2026.

The exercise is intended to enable the Committee on Appointments and the Public Service (CAPS) to commence preparations for the interview and scrutiny of the nominees before their eventual presentation to Parliament for consideration and approval.

The Committee on Appointments and the Public Service is chaired by the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, Hon. Mathew Sahr Nyuma, who oversees the committee’s proceedings as it examines the qualifications and suitability of presidential nominees before they are brought before the full House.

Parliament has therefore called on all affected nominees to treat the deadline with urgency, emphasising the importance of completing and submitting their interview forms within the stipulated timeframe.

The forms constitute a key component of the parliamentary appointment process, providing the committee with relevant personal, professional and institutional information required to prepare for the nominees’ interviews and subsequent scrutiny.

The Office of the Clerk has directed the presidential nominees to collect their interview forms from Julius Moriba Songa, Director of Committees and Clerk to the Committee on Appointments and the Public Service, at the Parliament Building, Tower Hill, Freetown.

The notice further encourages nominees not to delay in complying with the directive, warning that failure to return the completed forms within the specified period could affect the committee’s preparations for their interviews and potentially delay their subsequent consideration by Parliament.

The latest notice forms part of Parliament’s established procedure for processing presidential appointments. Under the parliamentary process, nominees appointed by the President are subjected to scrutiny and interviews by the Committee on Appointments and the Public Service before their names are presented to the full House for consideration and approval, where required.

The process is intended to provide Parliament with an opportunity to assess the nominees’ qualifications, experience and suitability for the offices to which they have been appointed.

With the deadline now set for Monday, 17 August 2026, the Office of the Clerk has urged all affected nominees to collect, complete and return their forms promptly to facilitate the work of the committee and ensure that the appointment process proceeds without unnecessary delays.

The notice comes as Parliament continues its constitutional responsibility of scrutinising presidential appointments to key public offices, with the Committee on Appointments and the Public Service playing a central role in the process.
