SL Allocates Lands for Saudi Arabian and Turkish Embassies to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alhaji Musa Timothy Kabba, today presented Deeds of Gift for lands at Hill Station to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Turkey for the construction of their respective embassies.

The presentation took place in the Ministry’s conference room, where Minister Kabba emphasized Sierra Leone’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with its international partners. He noted that the establishment of embassies by these countries highlights the deepening of diplomatic ties with Sierra Leone.

Minister Kabba underscored the significant bilateral cooperation between Sierra Leone, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, particularly in trade, investment, global peace, and security. He expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its support in empowering Sierra Leone’s Armed Forces with technical training to combat terrorism and for its investments in the health sector.

Ali Elhaji, Charge d’Affaires of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, thanked the Sierra Leonean government for providing suitable land for their embassy. He noted that the new embassy will facilitate easier movement, trade, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.

The Turkish Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Sibel Erkam, described Sierra Leone as a country rich in cultural heritage. She expressed appreciation for the swift action taken by the Ministry in granting land for the Turkish embassy and pledged to begin construction promptly.

Both diplomats expressed their anticipation for the successful establishment of their embassies, which will further enhance the strong diplomatic and cooperative relations with Sierra Leone.
