Mariama Bashir Jalloh Represents SL at the Fatima Bintu Mubarak Female Quranic Memorization Competition in Dubai

On September 9, 2024, Mariama Bashir Jalloh made an impressive debut at the Fatima Bintu Mubarak International Female Quranic Memorization Competition in Dubai. Her participation marks a significant milestone, representing Sierra Leone in a prestigious global arena for the first time.

Jalloh’s journey to this international stage began with her outstanding performance at the Federation of Islamic Schools in Sierra Leone (FOISIL)’s 10th National Quranic Memorization Competition (NQMC), where she clinched first place in the Female Category. This victory earned her the honor of representing Sierra Leone at the Fatima Bintu Mubarak competition.

Her initial performance in Dubai was met with high praise, being noted as one of the best ever by a Sierra Leonean female participant at the first stage of the competition. This acknowledgment highlights Jalloh’s dedication and skill in Quranic memorization.

The event saw strong support from the Sierra Leonean community in Dubai. Notable attendees included Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the UAE, Abdul Rashid Sesay, FOISIL’s Ambassador to the UAE, Brother Alusine Jalloh, and Dr. Bashirr, Mariama’s father, among many others. Their presence underscored the community’s pride and encouragement for Jalloh.
