A police officer has testified before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 in Freetown, stating that he recovered three blood-stained knives at the scene of an alleged murder involving 46-year-old twin brothers, Alhassan Fofanah, a driver, and Alusine Fofanah, unemployed.

The two accused are standing trial on five counts, including conspiracy to murder, murder, wounding with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, in connection with the alleged killing of Mumunie Bah.

The matter came before the court on Thursday, September 17, 2026, when prosecution witness number three, Morlai Bangura, a police officer, continued his testimony and was cross-examined by both accused.

The charges include conspiracy to murder, contrary to Section 4 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1816; murder, contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1816, as repealed and replaced by Section 1(a) of the Schedule to the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021, Act No. 6 of 2022; wounding with intent, contrary to Sections 18 and 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1816; and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the same Act.

According to the police charge sheet, the accused persons allegedly, on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at No. 69A, Back of PWD Quarters, Sumalia Town, Freetown, in the Western Area of Sierra Leone, conspired with other persons unknown and murdered Mumunie Bah.

The second count alleges that the two accused, on the same date and at the same location, murdered Mumunie Bah.

The third count alleges that the accused wounded Alie Bangura with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm, while the fourth count alleges that they maliciously wounded him.

The fifth count further alleges that the accused assaulted Alie Bangura in a manner that occasioned him actual bodily harm.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons, no plea was taken, as the matter is currently at the committal proceedings stage.

During Thursday’s proceedings, Police Constable 18235 Thoronka K. led PW3, Morlai Bangura, in evidence before the court.

Under cross-examination, PW3 told the court that he took possession of three knives at the scene of the alleged incident on the day in question.

He testified that he observed blood stains on all three knives and also noticed blood stains on both accused persons.

PW3 further told the court that he disarmed the three knives from the accused persons and another individual who, according to his testimony, was involved in the fight.

The witness also clarified that nobody had died at the scene by the time he reported the matter to the police.

Following the proceedings, Magistrate John Manso Fornah ordered both accused persons to remain on remand at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.

The Magistrate also ordered that a subpoena be served on the exhibit officer in connection with the exhibits in the matter.

The case has been adjourned to September 21, 2026, for the prosecution to present its fourth witness.
