SL Assumes Leadership at the Regional Maritime University in Ghana

The meeting commenced with a warm welcome note from the RMU Registrar, setting a cordial tone for the event. Delegates from various member states were introduced, showcasing the diverse and collaborative spirit of the university.

In a heartfelt statement, the outgoing chairman expressed gratitude for the university’s enduring support during their tenure. He acknowledged the collective efforts that have advanced maritime education and training, laying a strong foundation for future leadership.

Assuming leadership on behalf of Sierra Leone, the Deputy Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration, Mr. Sama Ansu Gamanga, expressed profound thanks to The Gambia for their exemplary leadership. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Gamanga emphasized his commitment to ensuring a steady, productive, and transparent administration. He articulated a vision of continuous improvement and collaboration, aiming to build upon the successes of his predecessors and further enhance the university’s role in maritime development.

Mr. Paul Sobba Massaquoi, the Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration and Chairperson for the Experts Committee, assured the gathering of Sierra Leone’s dedication to effective and efficient administration. He highlighted the importance of enhancing collaboration between member states to achieve shared goals in maritime education and research.

Sierra Leone’s leadership is anticipated to bring a new era of growth and innovation to the RMU. The focus will be on fostering stronger ties among member states and promoting excellence in maritime education and research, thereby contributing to the overall development of the maritime sector in the region.

This leadership transition is a significant milestone for the RMU, reflecting its commitment to maintaining high standards of maritime education and fostering regional cooperation. Under Sierra Leone’s stewardship, the university is expected to continue its trajectory of success, benefiting the entire West African maritime community.
