UBA Loan Targets School Expenses

As families across Sierra Leone prepare for a new academic year, UBA Sierra Leone is encouraging eligible salary earners to take advantage of its NO WAHALA Loan, a financial facility designed to provide additional support when back-to-school expenses place pressure on household budgets.
For many parents and guardians, the start of a new school year comes with a long list of financial obligations, including school fees, uniforms, shoes, books, school bags and other learning materials. When several of these expenses become due at the same time, managing household finances can become challenging.
UBA Sierra Leone says the situation is not always a result of poor financial planning, but can simply be a matter of timing.
The bank’s NO WAHALA Loan is designed to provide eligible salary earners with greater financial flexibility to meet pressing personal expenses, including school fees, educational materials, household needs and other unexpected financial obligations.
The facility requires no equity and offers repayment terms of up to 48 months, allowing eligible customers to spread their repayments over a longer period while managing their other financial commitments.

According to UBA Sierra Leone, the facility forms part of the bank’s broader effort to provide financial solutions that respond to the everyday needs and responsibilities of its customers.
Speaking on the initiative, UBA Sierra Leone Managing Director and CEO, Mohamed Alhajie Samoura, said the bank understands that customers’ financial needs are closely linked to the realities of their daily lives.
“At UBA, we understand that our customers’ financial needs are closely connected to the realities of their everyday lives. Back-to-school is an important period for families, and we want eligible customers to know that practical financial solutions are available when they need additional support.”
He added that through the NO WAHALA Loan, UBA is continuing to make banking more convenient, responsive and relevant to the people it serves.
WHO CAN APPLY?
The NO WAHALA Loan is available to eligible salary earners who:
- Receive their salaries through UBA Sierra Leone; or
- Are willing to move their salaries to UBA;
- Have been employed at their current place of work for at least six months; and
- Meet UBA’s applicable loan eligibility and assessment requirements.

UBA says the facility can provide customers with the financial breathing room needed to keep important plans on track when unexpected or pressing expenses arise.
The bank maintains that its role goes beyond facilitating transactions, stressing that banking should also involve creating solutions that respond to customers’ everyday realities, responsibilities and ambitions.
As families settle into another academic year, UBA says its message is simple: unexpected expenses should not necessarily force customers to put important plans on hold.
With the NO WAHALA Loan, the bank is offering eligible salary earners an option to manage pressing financial needs while maintaining their other commitments.
