Kona Lodge, 1st August 2024 – ‘’…to all the women who have shaped our journey, we extend our deepest gratitude. Your dedication and achievements inspire us all and set a standard of excellence.’’ These heartfelt words of gratitude came from Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, the Commissioner for the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), during a banquet honoring the remarkable women of NaCSA.

With women constituting 33% of the Commission’s staff and holding strategic positions such as senior directors, directors, specialists, managers, officers, and support staff, NaCSA proudly fulfills the 30% quota aspiration outlined by His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio in the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Act.

These women employ agile and hybrid approaches, leveraging innovative and advanced development tools to expedite implementation. Ambassador Ndomahina highlighted the pivotal role these women play in the Commission’s success. ‘’…we are proud to honor the incredible contributions of the women in NaCSA and at the national level. Their unwavering commitment, outstanding performance, and leadership have been the cornerstone of our success. On behalf of President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, we are here today to celebrate the power, resilience, and leadership of the women who continue to make a difference,’’ he noted.

Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, Deputy Commissioner of NaCSA, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to realizing the President’s vision for national development. He emphasized his role as the ‘right-hand man’ to the Commissioner, dedicated to delivering results.

Dr. Susan Robert, Senior Director for Programme Development and Quality Assurance (SD-PDQA), one of NaCSA’s longest-serving staff members, acknowledged the unparalleled achievements recorded under Ambassador Ndomahina’s leadership. ‘’This is the first time a Commissioner is celebrating staff, especially women, for their indelible contributions to the growth of the Commission and by extension national development. We are honored, sir,’’ she remarked.

Hon. Wuyatta Bernatte Songa, President of the Female Parliamentary Caucus, praised NaCSA for recognizing women’s work and called for more women in top management positions. Isata Jabbie Kabbah, the Presidential Adviser on Gender, expressed her pleasure with the new trend at NaCSA, particularly the collaborative relationship between Ambassador Ndomahina and Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa. She confidently stated that with these two leaders at the helm, women are on the winning side.

The event climaxed with the President of NaCSA’s Women’s Forum, who also serves as the Director of Programmes, presenting a gift of honor to the Commissioner in recognition of his support for the women of Sierra Leone.
