NGC Asserts Party Structure Amidst ITGC’s Unilateral Actions

On Monday, October 14, 2024, at the NGC headquarters located at 14 Naimbana, the General Membership responded to the Press Release issued by the Interim Transition Governance Committee (ITGC) on October 5, 2024. The National Grand Coalition Party (NGC) wishes to inform its members, supporters, and the general public that the ITGC was established under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by leaders of the All Political Parties Association (APPA), the Council of Elders, and the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC). This committee is tasked with overseeing NGC operations until the PPRC can conduct internal party elections to elect new executive members. It is important to note that the ITGC is not a structure of the NGC.
During a meeting on October 6, 2023, members of the ITGC declared themselves a so-called Executive Council (EC) and claimed to have “taken over” the management of the party. We remind all members and supporters that this purported EC has no legal basis within the NGC Constitution and cannot claim to be the legitimate leadership of the party. The formation of the EC is a unilateral action not provided for by the 2021 Party Constitution.
While the NGC welcomes efforts to advance the party, we emphasize that the National Grand Coalition is a structured organization with a duly constituted leadership. This includes the NGC Council of Elders, a standing interim Executive Committee, the Secretariat, the Party Communication Wing, and other functional structures outlined in our party constitution, all of which are committed to fulfilling their mandates.
We urge our members and supporters to adhere to our constitution and maintain trust in our duly elected and appointed leadership as we strive to uphold the values of the National Grand Coalition and advance the party’s agenda in the best interest of all.
