Budget Advocacy Network Skips Government Press Conference Over Transparency Concerns

The Budget Advocacy Network (BAN) issued a press release on July 9th explaining their non-attendance at the Government Weekly Press Conference. According to BAN Coordinator Abu Bakarr Kamara, the absence was driven by a commitment to transparency and accountability.

Kamara emphasized that BAN’s decision stems from the government’s refusal to release the Tribunal Report on the suspended Auditor-General, Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce, and Deputy Auditor-General, Mr. Tamba Momoh, to the public.

“The reason for this is due to the non-availability of the tribunal report, which is the subject of discussion for the press conference. We continue to call for transparency and adherence to due process and request that the detailed report be made available to Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce, Mr. Tamba Momoh, and the public,” stated Kamara.

The weekly press conference, organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, aimed to address the Tribunal’s findings and outline the next steps for the Auditor General’s Office.
