SALWACO Welcomes 21 New Staff Members in Ceremony Focused on Quality Service Delivery

The Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) has officially welcomed 21 new staff members in a ceremony aimed at bolstering the institution’s human resources and enhancing quality service delivery. The event was attended by the SALWACO Senior Management Team, led by Managing Director Ing. George Lamin Vandi.

The Human Resources Manager, Joe Ansu Foray, commenced the session, introducing the Chairperson, Saffa SK Bockarie, Director of Planning, Research, and Policy. Bockarie emphasized the significance of the occasion and the importance of understanding company policies for ensuring quality service.

In his keynote address, Managing Director Ing. George Lamin Vandi welcomed the new staff and assured them of management’s support in achieving organizational goals. He detailed the structure of SALWACO and encouraged the recruits to be committed, industrious, and result-driven. Vandi highlighted opportunities for growth and development within the company.

Director of Administration, Denis Macavorey, urged the new staff to prioritize SALWACO’s goals, stressing the need for focus and dedication. He called on all staff members to support the new recruits.

Director of Finance, Frank Lahai Kamara, discussed the financial structure of SALWACO, emphasizing quality control and prudent financial practices. He highlighted the importance of sustainability and the institution’s mandate.

Director of Operations, Ing. Abdul Ben Lebbie, encouraged the new staff to be disciplined and hardworking. He assured them of routine checks to ensure transparency and accountability.

Director of Project Management, Ing. Yankuba J. Tarrawally, described SALWACO as a national institution serving over six million Sierra Leoneans. He emphasized the collaborative nature of the project department and the need for commitment to efficient delivery.

Company Secretary, Mayiwa Sia Rosemarie Macauley, Esq., assured the new staff of legal support and encouraged them to familiarize themselves with the SALWACO Act. She stressed the importance of working within legal confines.

Stakeholders’ and Media Relations Manager, Mary Mansaray Ngegba, congratulated the new staff and highlighted the importance of accurate and credible information sharing. She encouraged them to contribute to the company’s progress.

Marketing Manager, Mohamed Aziz Waggay, emphasized the role of revenue generation in SALWACO’s policies. He encouraged the new staff to learn on the job and work towards the company’s independence and sustainability.

Speakers consistently stressed the importance of hard work, commitment, and result-oriented approaches. They shared their experiences, assuring the new staff that with dedication, they too could rise to top management positions.

The new staff were given an opportunity to ask questions and make comments, and the engagement concluded with a photo session.
